Valentines day snuck up on me this year, but that does not mean that I let it fly by without a little celebration with my best girls. This past year has been a year full of transition for me, along with a handful of my closest girlfriends. This Valentines Day we made a pact to celebrate the holiday together, celebrating each other and our love.
What better way to celebrate Valentines Day than with a pizza party, a make your own pizza party! I spent the afternoon cutting pizza dough (regular and whole wheat) into hearts, picking up a little bubbly, and grabbing a few sweet treats for dessert.
Each girl bringing their favorite pizza topping was the perfect way to cut costs and make sure everyone had exactly what they wanted to make their perfect heart shaped pizza.
Our dinner was perfection. Delicious, healthy (or not, depending on preference,) and 100% themed out. There was no better way to top it off than with my favorite dessert- s'mores!
Nights like this serve as the perfect example of how a little more effort and time makes all the difference between losing focus and momentum or the healthy alternative, still being able to enjoy myself in moderation. Knowing that this evening was planned and what was on the menu I made sure to eat as simple and as clean as possible for breakfast (multi grain toast with 1/4 an avocado, 2 scrambled eggs) and lunch (protein shake.) When it came to my dinner, I made sure to indulge in some salad and make myself 2 heart shaped pizza's on wheat crust with mozzarella, turkey pepperoni, and a ton of veggies. Allowing myself one s'more was the cherry on top; in this case, it was well deserved.
On the menu:
Whole Wheat and Regular Pizza Dough.
Mozzarella Cheese, Jack Cheese, Pepper Jack Cheese, Blue Cheese.
Turkey and Regular Pepperoni.
Dunkaroo Dip (I modified the recipe and used greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt) with Strawberries, Chocolate Teddy Grahams, and Animal Crackers.
