Holiday Gift Guide

It's that time of year again... The Holidays are in full swing and there are only DAYS left to find those unique, must-have gifts for your loved ones. But don't worry, I'm here to help!

As you probably know by now, I am all about living your healthiest life but with a little (sometimes, a lot of) wiggle room. I even practice this in my gift giving, as you will see below.

For me, gifts are not occasion exclusive. I am constantly listening to the wants and needs of the people in my life. If I see something that screams my best friend's name, I will buy it for her 'just because.' I love making the people around me feel loved and appreciated year-round.

With that being said, below are a few of my current faves, to make your holiday shopping that much easier (and successful)!

  • The Face Haus- The Face Haus is an amazing concept, very similar to a BlowDry Bar, but for facials. I have been going here for a while and let me tell you, they are miracle workers... my skin has never felt (or looked) better! At $55 per service, I think a gift card to Face Haus is an incredible treat for just about anyone in need of a little pick me up, male or female.

  • Melinda Maria Stella Ear Cuff- I don't know that there is any jewelry line I am more obsessed with than Melinda Maria: affordable, approachable, stackable, and always a conversation starter. Ear Cuffs are all the rage right now and a great stocking stuffer for the fashion forward. $58.

  • Model Meals- Clean. Local. Organic. Whole30. Paleo... Model Meals is a ready-made meal service, perfect for the health conscious, busy bees, or for that person in your life who is looking to change up their routine. Gift cards are available for $50 or $100.

  • Chair Caddy by iCA- This all-in-one saddle bag is great for all ages. Anyone who sits in a chair and needs to store their belongings in a safe and accessible place will benefit from this new and unique on-the-go caddy-turns-messenger bag. Add pins, buttons, or patches- make it uniquely yours! Use the coupon code SormehLifestyle at checkout for free shipping on the iCA website!

  • SL Vintage Flask- Know a vintage lover who also enjoys a beverage or two? This beautiful piece (made of alligator skin) speaks for itself and will last a lifetime... definitely worth the $295.

  • Goldsheep Clothing Leggings- These leggings are a true staple for all fitness fanatics. I personally love the 'Gold Slice' pair.  My motto is that if you feel/look good going into the gym, you will work out that much harder. Invest the $98 into someone special who you know will rock these in (and even out of) the gym!

  • Shop Pineapple Shot Glasses- Rose gold pineapple shot glasses. Need I say more? Have a secret santa gift exchange coming up? Want to liven up your next girls night? Need last minute stocking stuffers? Spend the $35... you won't regret it!

  • Giant Jenga- This game is perfect for kids, teens, adults, men, women... and everyone in between! I have not laughed more than I do when my friends and I play this game... so worth the $129. Again... a long term (and entertaining) investment.

  • SL Vintage Earrings- One-of-a-kind earrings, only found on our site ($345). Perfect for the woman who wants to stand apart from the crowd; to rock at any holiday party, NYE, or just throw them on to amp up your favorite jeans and tee.

  • Hammer and Nails- Want to treat the man in your life to a little R & R? A gift card to Hammer and Nails is a must... mani/pedis, personal flat screens (and remotes), cocktails... no fuss, no interruptions... a true man cave.

I hope this gift guide helped ease some of your Holiday stress!

Thirty One

What a whirlwind this past year has been. I am still having trouble believing that it is October 14th... I feel like I was just ringing in 2016!

This past year was extremely transitional for me, a year filled with the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between. Coming into 31 I have never felt more confident, driven, and vulnerable- in the best of ways. I am becoming more OK with not knowing what the future holds, flying, standing up for exactly what I deserve, and going to the dentist (baby steps.)

I have such strong feelings about 31, every bit of which are positive. I think this year is going to be the most life changing yet, all of which I will continue to share with you all, right here on my blog!

Cheers to a new year and new beginnings!

Pizza Makes My World Go Round

Ever since I shared my last blog post Treat Is The New Cheat, I haven't been able to get my favorite treat meal off of my mind...Pizza. I have searched high and low for the best pizza in Los Angeles and it's only right that I share my favorites with you!

1. Village Pizzeria: Hands down, my favorite pizza in LA and trust me, I have tried them all! Village is all about their New York style pizza (with the most perfect crust). I am a crust girl, I don't mess around with thin crust. I want bite, I want chew, I want crunch. I start off with their Garden Salad with Ranch, always, and follow it up with my all time favorite pizza (with easy sauce), topped with pepperoni, black olive, mushroom, and pineapple.

2. Masa: I stumbled upon this restaurant during my very first few months of living in LA. I am not usually one to opt for Deep Dish but Masa sure know what they're doing when it comes to Chicago Deep Dish. I keep it classic and start with their Caesar Salad (Parmesan Wedges for the win!) and opt for their Plain Jane, cheese pizza... and trust me, both can be easily shared.

3. Vito's Pizza: You know those days where its near impossible to get off the couch but all you want is pizza?! I know them all too well. Sure, now these days are few and far between, but when they happen, Vito's, more specifically their Pesto Pizza, is my go-to. Delivered straight to my front door. 18" of heaven. Add on a side of breadsticks and you have yourself the perfect Treat Meal.

Now that I am salivating all over my keyboard, I really do hope you all get to go and try out at least one of my sacred Pizza joints! Living in a city like LA, there are always new and noteworthy restaurants popping up all over town. Along with that are some crazy concoctions being thought of that I am constantly adding to my "must eat" list. Right now my mind is set on trying Ameci Pizza Kitchen's  Flaming Hot Cheeto Pizza, enough said, right?

What are your favorite Pizza joints? LA or elsewhere, I am always game to discover the best slices in town!

Treat is the new Cheat

This Summer has been extremely transformative for me - in mind, body, and soul. I have been witness to a lot within myself, my family, and my friends. I think one of the most beautiful things about growing older is that you are constantly evolving into your best self, or at least that is the case for me... it is my WANT for self improvement, understanding, and growth.

This past year I have really started to focus on preventative health. Sure, I have been getting fit by changing my eating habits, counting my calories and working out, but I started to ask myself - have I been feeding my body nutritious fuel or simply feeding my body?

A few months back I was lucky enough learn a bit more about my body - food allergies, my gut health, digestion... etc. With this new knowledge, I am able to further modify my diet and really understand what best fuels my body. For example, I used to eat eggs almost every morning for breakfast, but little did I know I am actually allergic to eggs. It was a disservice to my body and my gut to eat them so often. Do I still treat myself to my favorite ' 2 Eggs Any Style' breakfast option? Of course! But, it is a TREAT and it happens occasionally.

This brings me to the main focus of this post...

I have decided to consciously make an effort to chose the word TREAT to replace CHEAT.

We are all aware of 'cheat meals' and the concept behind them. However, I do not love the term 'cheat.' Obviously I am treating myself to something that fits into the 20% of my 80/20 lifestyle, so why think of this special meal in a negative way? We all deserve to treat ourselves to foods that we love, oftentimes these are the foods that may not necessarily fuel our body in the healthiest of ways. I am a firm believer in treating yourself, not cheating!

Making this conscious effort has further helped me build an even healthier relationship with my body and food (treats included)! Enjoy your treat meals - in moderation and without guilt!

Anklet Envy

Over the past few months I have really become obsessed (yet, again) with anklets. Back in my middle school and high school days anklets were all the rage and they are definitely making a massive comeback into my life and heart. I completely understand that they are not for everyone, but I can not seem to get enough of them- stack em up, the more the better in my opinion!

Below are a few anklets that are currently inspiring me. Don't be afraid to create new trends, stand out from the crowd, and embrace your style.

Always remember, at first they may laugh, but then they (always) copy... and at that point you will be on to the next best thing!

A Glimpse Into My Home...

Last week I had the privilege of shooting my home with the talented, Sarah Zimmer, of Sarah Zimmer Photography. This was a very special shoot for me. I have been working on perfecting the interior of my home for a few years now and feel like I have finally gotten my home to a great place.

Living with roommates poses a bit of a challenge when it comes to the design aspect of any home. This is not necessarily a negative or a positive challenge, there is just more to take in consideration- different aesthetics, budgets, necessities... etc. Luckily, my living room and dining room was a great collaboration of style and effort, a place we are all comfortable in and pleased with.

Below are a few of my favorite shots from our shoot, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Body | Positive

If I asked you to name all the things that you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?

As I continue to grow older and accept myself- mind, body, and soul, it has become very important to me, as an influencer, to encourage girls to love their bodies. We live in a society that is constantly telling us who to be, what to look like, who to love.... but why not do something radical and love yourself, for exactly who you are.

I would be lying if I said that I didn't have moments where I get down on myself. We're all human, none of us are perfect; but I do try my hardest to accept and love myself each and everyday, while still working towards bettering myself, inside and out. I refuse to miss out on 95% of my life, just to weight 5% less.

Life is about balance. I can not tell you all how many times I am witness to people settling for "quick fixes." A quick fix has not and will never work long term. Why put your mind and body through hell and back, for a temporary outcome? Life is way too short to spend it at war with yourself. The day that I decided to listen to my body was the day my transformation truly began. Your body tells you exactly what it needs and wants to fuel and heal itself, you just need to trust it and have patience.

"What is your secret?" is one of the questions I get asked the most. But the truth is, there is no secret... no pill, waist trainer, shake, tea, drug, or any other gimmick that will give you the life long results that lifestyle changes could ever give you. 80/20 is my motto when it comes to what I put in my body. 80% of the time I fuel my body with mostly organic, unprocessed foods. Focusing on high protein, lower carb. This is key for ME and how MY body runs. The other 20% is a treat.

Fall in love with yourself everyday, over and over again. We give so much of ourselves to other people, constantly looking for validation and love, when really, we should look within ourselves. How can you expect anyone else to love you and respect you, if you can't truly accept yourself and love yourself? We show people how to treat us by the way we treat ourselves - know your worth and don't settle for anything less than that.

I am going to leave you all with a small challenge. The next time you look at yourself in the mirror, instead of criticizing, poking, and prodding...list 3 things that you love about yourself. Focus on the positives. Sure, I may not have 6 pack abs, but I love my waistline and my clavicles. This may sound minuscule and silly to some, but you will soon realize that focusing on a few small "positives" each and every day, will lead you to a healthier body positivity mindset and equally as important, acceptance.

Snack Attack x 2

It is no secret that I carry a handful of snacks with me at all times. Having spent the last 5 years learning the ins and outs of my body, listening to its wants and needs, I have come to understand that my body likes a little "fuel" every two hours. Keeping me energized, sustaining my metabolism, and preventing hanger from creeping in.

Last year I shared my snack obsessions, well...get ready for ROUND 2!

1. Glutino Pretzel Twists I do not like to make this an every day snack option, but a few times a week, these pretzels really hit the spot. Low calorie, just enough crunch... my favorite pairing is with string cheese.

2. Organic Light String Cheese Unlike most "light" cheese, this string cheese has good bite to it. This is not exactly the type of snack that I throw in my purse, but on those days where I am working from home, string cheese & some crisp green grapes really hit the spot, and are a great 100 calorie and under snack option.

3. Justin's Peanut Butter Squeeze Pack These packs are my #1 right now. Travel friendly, no matter if I am packing them in my suitcase or just tossing them in my purse. Peanut Butter is such a filling snack for me, I eat these on their own and I am satisfied for a good few hours.

What are you all snacking on currently?
