Oscar Sunday is one of my most favorite days. Not only do we come up with a beyond delicious menu to snack on all night long, but I also get to spend the evening with my family and closest friends.
I live for a good red carpet moment. A head to toe look that will be remembered for years to come. Unfortunately, the 2015 Oscars were an epic fail in the fashion department. In my opinion, the Oscars typically bring boring red carpet fashion. I always anticipate the matronly gowns, over accessorized looks, and poor shoe choices; but this year was on another level.
For starters we have two incredibly talented beauties who have butchered their looks with some horrendous neck wear. WHY? You have an entire team that is hired to make you look drop-dead...but really, I just wish your necklaces would R.I.P.
I realize that lighter tones, specifically white, were a huge hit on the carpet. White I love. This Chanel number on Julianne Moore I detest. There is no differentiating between her skin tone and her dress. Both her dress and Lupita's gown were too embellished for me. Sometimes less is more. And by sometimes I pretty much mean all of the time.
For those of you who know me, you know that I simply CAN NOT with Gwenyth. She will forever be benched with Claire Danes, Anne Hathaway, and Kiera Knightly. Sure her figure looks fine in this gown, but she seems to have forgotten its 2015 and not 1985, that embellished sleeve- no girl. I also CAN NOT with Nicole Kidman's look. This dress does nothing for her. The color(s), the red belt, the clutch... Its as if she couldn't decide on one cohesive look so she took her favorite components from three and put them together. And lets not get started on that hair color...
Enough of the tragic, my eyes hurt from looking at these poor outfits. As much as I am hating on the above looks, there were just a few looks I couldn't help but admire.
J-Lo can do no wrong in my book. Her body, her skin, her glam. Everything is on point. I love that she had her own sexy-cinderalla moment last night. She is so extra in every single way but she OWNS IT.
My absolute favorite couples could have been dressed in potato sacks for all I care. I wouldn't have noticed. I was too in awe of their LOVE. Those men. Those looks. I am SO about it. Too about it.
It's time to focus on my absolute favorite part of The Oscars... THE AFTER-PARTIES! It's as if these women heard my silent cries and knew they had to step it up. Bring on the sexy. Bring on the fun. Bring on the fashion risks.
Gigi Hadid has quickly made her way up on my list. She's right there with J-Lo, she takes risks and looks beyond fabulous doing so. I love her Atelier Versace gown, and I love that she kept her hair simple and casual with this ultra glam look. And J-Lo slayed. I don't really think I need to elaborate.
Miranda Kerr always seems to find the perfect balance between cute and sexy. She shows off her body in a way that is always appropriate and approachable, but still daring. Behati Prinsloo on the other hand, is the epitome of 'less is more.' Simple hair. Simple glam. Simple gown. Simple accessories. I've never been called a simple girl, but I am down with her look. Rocker chic, with an emphasis on chic.
Let the countdown to next year's Oscars begin. Fingers and toes are crossed for more of the GOOD and less of the bad and ugly.
