This past Sunday my roommates and I decided to trade in our mimosa brunch for a juice cleanse. Call us crazy. Go ahead. Having talked to my trainer about this plan before hand he recommended for me to commit to a 1 to 2 day cleanse (maximum,) for various health reasons. With a ladies trip to Vegas coming up this week we wanted to feel our very best, so we decided to give it a go. I, of course, recorded my each and every thought along the way.
8:30am Feeling positive & excited about this decision while purchasing my juices for the day.
9:00am First juice down, feeling confident.
11:00am Second juice down. I'm cold, constantly peeing, but still confident.
11:45am I'm so cold. Craving a sandwich. Annoyed with the constant peeing. Cuddled up on the couch, hoping Netflix will distract me from all of the above.
1:00pm I'm struggling through my 3rd juice, Roots 2. I'd be okay never having this juice again. Took me half an hour to finish it.
3:00pm Citrus 2 (my 4th juice) was the perfect pick me up. Super refreshing. I'm lacking energy, but enjoying binge watching Entourage.
5:00pm I woke up from an accidental 20 minute nap to drink Greens 3 (my 5th drink.) Exhausted. Hungry. But not entirely miserable.
7:00pm SO thankful that I only committed to a one day cleanse. Trying to finish my last juice, but having a hard time stomaching it. Dreaming of my breakfast tomorrow morning - all of the possibilities - as I announce to my roommates that I am in fact done with this cleanse, leaving half of my juice untouched.
I am proud I challenged my body with this cleanse but I don't see myself doing another cleanse anytime soon. I woke up feeling energized and de-bloated, but no more or less than I would have any other day where I was eating super clean. I don't doubt that if I continued on with this cleanse for a few more days the results would be different, but for me one day was plenty. A great reminder that what works for some in the journey of a healthy lifestyle, doesn't always fit the needs of others. A great experience nonetheless!
