This past Sunday was definitely one for the books! My girls and I decided to trade in our usual sunday mimosa brunch for a trip to the LA County Fair.... and boy was it worth it! Not only did we brave the 106 degree heat for about 6 hours, but we were committed to trying the most absurdly delicious and bizarre foods. My roommates and I had everyone over around 10am to watch the 49ers game with breakfast. Our spread was simple- bagels, fruit, and mini scones. Just enough to give us energy throughout the game and for the drive to the fair.
We all know I am extremely disciplined but I am also all about my epic cheats and treats, so needless to say, I did my fair share of research before we arrived. On my hit list was a handful of sinful items, including a Krispy Kreme triple cheeseburger, churro ice cream sandwich, and chicken & waffles in a waffle cone. I am proud to say that I tried each and every item on my hit list except for the Chicken & Waffles- by the time we found their stand, they had run out (I am still sad about it)!!
The beauty of going to the fair with a group of 11 people is that we got to try each and every little thing we wanted to, but never once did I feel sick, full, or run down. I took a few bites of each item I wanted to try and that was the perfect amount to keep me going until the next menu item. I can easily say that my favorite item to try was the Krispy Kreme burger. I know, I know... it looks and sounds like a heart attack, BUT I can not get over how delicious it was.
What we ate: 1 bacon wrapped fried pickle plate. 1 caramel apple. 1 bag of popcorn. 1 chocolate gelato cone. 1 pesto fries. 1 steak quesadilla. 1 cheese fries. 1 deep fried cookie dough plate. 1 shaved ice. 2 triple decker Krispy Kreme cheese burgers. 2 corn dogs. 2 dirt with worms. 3 churro ice cream sandwiches. 3 dip n dots. 3 fried zucchini plates (2 loaded with toppings.) 5 sourdough pizzas. 20 + bottles of water.
Not only was the fair a fun change of pace for us but we were all so care free and open minded about it as a whole. We made sure everyone got to try each and every little thing they wanted, we went on some awesome rides, and the simple fact that we spent 6 hours with one another making new memories was SO worth it!!
Until next time LACF....
